EDITH GORGE FALLS
   Pierce County, Washington

[ Physical Makeup ]  [ Pictures ]  [ Maps ]  [ Update History ]  [ User Comments ]

Although the main feature along Edith Creek is Myrtle Falls, when leaving Paradise along the one way Paradise Valley Loop road, one can not help but to slow down when passing this impressive Gorge. Edith Creek spills down several steps, none more than 30 feet tall, but it all adds up. In the late spring, and often the early summer, there is a noticeable accumulation of un-melted snow in the Gorge due to it's small openings. Visiting the area in late July 2000, there was still 5 feet of snow on the ground at Paradise (Winter of 2000 had a National record snowfall in may places throughout Washington). This photo was taken in late August, 2001. Snow is obviously not a problem at that point.
