A lens in the order of 18mm is necessary to get a complete top-to-bottom shot of the falls from the viewpoint. Spray is a very big issue when the Paradise River runs high in the early summer. The falls face more or less south and are brightly sunlit in the morning and early afternoon, but usually become partially shaded in the later hours of the day. Rainbows are commonly seen at the falls, so a polarizer may be detrimental in that regard.
