Panhandle Falls
   Skamania County, Washington

[ Physical Makeup ]  [ Pictures ]  [ Maps ]  [ Update History ]

Panhandle Falls is a long series of falls and slides that pour out of Panhandle Lake, dropping about 1000 feet before it hits a flat area near an old logging road. The falls can be partially seen from the end of FR 2162 near the Green River trailhead (and may be more visible near the Pole Star Mine further down spur 036), but approaching the falls closely will require following the aforementioned logging road for a little over a mile to the bottom of the falls. I expect it to be heavily overgrown and possibly not even followable in many places.

HISTORY AND NAMING INFORMATION

  • Panhandle Falls is the Proposed name of this waterfall.

LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS

Starting in Randle, follow FR 25 south towards Mount St. Helens then head right onto FR 26 just after crossing the Cispus River. Just over 12 miles from FR 25, immediately before reaching Ryan Lake, turn right onto 2162 (signed for the Green River Trail). Panhandle Falls can be partially seen from FR 2162 about 1/4 mile before the Green River trailhead (where the road forks to the left at a gravel pit).
