What Fall River Falls lacks in stature it makes up in character. The river, placid above and below, skips down a jagged 14 foot step of what appeared to be heavily eroded columnar basalt, surrounded by grassy meadows and lodgepole pine. The Fall River is fed by a series of springs and retains a very consistent volume all year long. Unfortunately its a little far out of the way, so for waterfall hunters looking to maximize your time, this may not be the best choice in the Bend area, but its certainly worth stopping if you happen to be in the area.
- Fall River Falls is the Official name of this waterfall.
Fall River Falls is located within LaPine State Park southwest of Bend. Take Highway 97 south from Bend to Sunriver, exiting at Vandevert Road. After a mile, turn left on South Century Drive. About 6 miles after turning (2 miles after crossing the Deschutes River), watch carefully for an unmarked gravel road on the left. Follow this road a little over 3/4 mile to a large parking area just before crossing the Fall River. A trail leads easily to the falls in about 1/4 mile.
