Annice Falls
   Lane County, Oregon

[ Physical Makeup ]  [ Pictures ]  [ Maps ]  [ Update History ]

This pretty waterfall occurs along an unnamed tributary of Sweet Creek, immediately above the top of Punchbowl Canyon Falls . The falls slide about 35 feet into Sweet Creek, adjacent to another 8 foot fall along Sweet Creek. A metal plaque along the trail identifies the falls. There was some confusion in my mind as to whether this name applies to the tributary waterfall, or the 8 foot fall on Sweet Creek itself. Seeing as there is a much larger waterfall on Sweet Creek a very short distance downstream, I can only assume it applies to the tributary waterfall. The falls appear to flow year round, but look as if they are reduced to a trickle in the summer.

HISTORY AND NAMING INFORMATION

  • Annice Falls is the Official name of this waterfall.

The falls were named for Annice Marie Ellingson Johnson, a former secretary of Mapleton Elementary of 30 years, who was born and raised on a ranch on the banks of Sweet Creek.
