Gaze across the valley at a pretty and a powerful waterfall descending over the lip of a hanging valley. These falls would deserve a higher rating if closer views were possible. And, as it happens, closer views may be possible by hiking upstream from Chinook Creek Falls for probably no more than .75 mile, then scrambling down to the base of the falls. During the summer, the falls become less impressive.
- Upper Chinook Creek Falls is the name of this waterfall.
In Mt. Rainier National Park, drive south from Cayuse Pass along SR 123 for about 2.5 miles to a large turnout just before the road enters a tunnel. The falls are visible across the valley from here.
