All the images on this site should appear on any
given computer. However, if you are running
an Internet Security Program that utilizes
a Firewall, such as Norton Internet Security
or McAfee Security Suite, or a stand alone
Firewall like Zone Alarm, these programs need
to be directed to allow this site to download
images. You'll need to open the Firewall
/ Antivirus / Security program(s) and add www.waterfallsnorthwest.com
to the list of "allowed" or "safe" sites to
browse.
There may be a broken link here and there, or
a typo in the filepath of a picture to be displayed
on a given page. If you see a broken image,
please report it here.
Two reasons. One, I work full time, and I can't
be out photographing and documenting waterfalls
all day every day (much to my dismay). Two,
I have thus far inventoried well over 3000 waterfalls
and it will likely take me my entire lifetime
to be able to document all those waterfalls -
and I'm sure I'll keep finding more, so they may
never be all documented.
Maybe. Because I conduct subjective reviews
of each waterfall I visit, I generally don't
upload pictures of waterfalls that I haven't
taken, because it gives me a disadvantage in
terms of accurately depicting the falls, and
it's difficult keeping track of which pictures
are mine in a folder of almost 700 images. However,
if you have pictures of waterfalls in closed
watersheds, or on private property, I will gladly
display those on my site at the approval of the
landowner (with note that the falls are off-limits
to the public of course). Others, I will
examine and determine whether or not to display
them, so please, send me pictures if you wish,
I will let you know from then on.
Again, because I work full time, I can't get
everywhere and see everything. I have been slowly
fleshing out the database, and I try to display
a little information for each waterfall. In
99% of the cases, enough information will be
present for a knowledgeable map reader to locate
the falls.
I live in the Seattle area, so Idaho is a long
drive for me. This far, I have been to Idaho
only once in my life to look for waterfalls.
I have tentative plans to make a couple trips
through the area within the next few years, during
which I should be able to rack up anywhere between
25 and 50 waterfalls in the state. I've also just
picked up the Idaho Topo CDs, so I will be going
through and fleshing out the Idaho database with
a lot more vigor over the next six months.
