Angels Staircase Falls from the Yoho Valley trail

This is the first waterfall encountered along the popukar Yoho Valley Trail. The falls cascade down the wall of the valley across the river, and since the viewpoint is nothing more than a short spur trail leading to the river's edge, there are only limited views of the falls. As you can see from the above picture, even in pictures taken with a 210mm lens, the falls still appear somewhat distant. Unfortunately, because of the twisting nature of the creek, only portions of the whole falls can be seen. From further along the main trail, from just after the spur to Point Lace Falls to near the top of the distince hill section of the trail, the falls can be heard and seen through the trees across the valley. Some decent views reveal more of the falls than can be seen here, but more often than not, the falls are too obscured by trees to warrant pictures. I suspect there may be better views of the falls from either the Iceline or Celeste Lake trails.

Located in Yoho Valley in Yoho National Park. From Golden, follow Highway 1 east towards Banff to the marked turnoff for Yoho Valley, 3.2 km east of Field or 22.4 km west of Lake Louise. Follow the Yoho Valley road to it's end at Takakkaw Falls, and begin hiking along the Yoho Valley trail. After 2.2 km of flat, easy walking, the signed spur will be on the right side of the trail.

The falls are distant across the valley. I recommend at least a 200mm lens to get a good full-frame picture of the falls. If the falls are more visible from the Iceline area, you'll likely need at least a 300mm lens.
