Though you'd never know from looking at just pictures, Lady Falls is surprisingly large and quite impressive. Based on the pictures I'd seen, I was expecting something about half this size when I first visited the falls. Cervus Creek squeezes out of a narrow crack and explodes down into a gorge, sending spray hundreds of feet into the air. One thing you may notice at the viewing deck (in the summer at least), is there tend to be numerous dead butterflies. It seems they like to nest in the trees high above the viewing deck, and when they drop low enough, the spray from the falls weighs down their wings so they can't fly. This is a good place to cool down on a hot summer day, even in late August, there is still a moderate mist coming from the falls. So, no matter when you come, prepare to get wet, because I guarantee you will.

On Vancouver Island, follow signs to Strathcona Park along Highway 28, for about 35km west from Campbell River, to the signed Buttle Lake / Westmin Road turnoff, just prior to crossing Buttle Lake. Turn right at the intersection, cross Buttle Lake and proceed another 16km to the signed picnic area and trailhead. Park and walk 550m to the viewing deck, perched over 30m above the canyon floor.

The falls face east, and are located in a narrow canyon, so even if it's clear out, come in the late afternoon, and you'll have acceptable lighting. Beware of the ever-present spray.
